Free FiveM scripts vs paid: which to choose
Free FiveM scripts from the ESX, QBCore and Qbox teams and from overextended are enough when the default resource does what your players use and you can read and fix Lua yourself. A paid script fits when one system needs more than the default and you want updates and a support route. A leaked copy of a paid script gives you neither, and Cfx.re suspends servers caught running one.
Our paid FiveM scripts are for ESX, QBCore and Qbox, sold one at a time or in monthly plans.
What to compare
| Free open-source script | Paid escrowed script | |
|---|---|---|
| Where it comes from | A public Git repository or a forum upload | A Tebex checkout, delivered to your Cfx.re account |
| Code you can change | Every file, under the repository’s licence | The files the creator leaves out of escrow, such as config; the rest is encrypted |
| Servers it runs on | Any server | Servers you own, on a key from the Cfx.re account that bought it |
| Updates | When the maintainers push them; check the last commit date | As the creator’s terms set; check the release date |
| Support | The repository’s issue tracker and community channels | The creator’s support route, if the release table says “Support: Yes” |
| GTA V Enhanced | No escrow step; the code itself must support Enhanced | Cfx.re lists Asset Escrow as “Not implemented yet” on Enhanced |
Free scripts from the framework teams
- Who it suits: a server starting out, a test server, or an owner who reads Lua and fixes their own bugs.
- Where to get them:
- ESX: ESX-Legacy-Addons in the
esx-frameworkorganisation holds the default jobs, such asesx_policejobandesx_ambulancejob. - QBCore:
qb-policejob(GPL-3.0) and the other QBCore resources sit in theqbcore-fivemorganisation. - Qbox:
qbx_police(GPL-3.0) and the other Qbox resources sit inQbox-project. - overextended:
ox_lib(LGPL-3.0) andox_inventory(GPL-3.0, release v2.48.0 on 3 October 2026). - The Cfx.re forum’s FiveM Releases category. Its rules say a free release must be “immediately available” as a public Git repository, a forum upload or a free Tebex package, and must carry the “free” tag.
- ESX: ESX-Legacy-Addons in the
- What it needs: the framework it was written for and the dependencies its README lists.
- Limits: nobody owes you a fix. Support is the issue tracker and the community, and the licence sets the terms for sharing a changed copy.
Before you install a free release from the forum, open its repository and check the last commit, the open issues and the licence. Read its server files for obfuscated code or HTTP requests to hosts you do not know.
Leaked copies are not a free option
A leaked script is a paid, escrowed script that someone decrypted or uploaded without the creator’s permission.
- Suspension: on 8 August 2025 Cfx.re announced two-week suspensions for every server confirmed to have used leaked assets without authorisation, and permanent termination for a repeat offence (Asset Security Update, read 19 October 2026). By 16 October 2025 it had suspended hundreds of accounts and servers, and it takes reports through a Server Report form.
- Ownership: Cfx.re’s release rules require whoever posts a release to be the sole owner of the content.
- Hidden code: files from an anonymous uploader carry code nobody you trust has read. Cfx.re forum members have described code from untrusted downloads that kept writing new lines into several of a server’s scripts (2023 thread). Another described a resource that fetched code from outside servers and ran it, and advised treating the machine as compromised (July 2026 thread). These are community reports, not a Cfx.re statement.
Paid scripts
- Who it suits: a server where one system, such as police or EMS roleplay, needs more than the default, and the owner wants updates and someone to answer a ticket.
- What it needs: a Cfx.re account (Tebex checkout signs you in with it), a server key from the same account, and the framework and dependencies the release lists. Cfx.re’s release rules make every paid or escrowed release end with a table whose rows include “Code is accessible”, “Subscription-based”, “Requirements & dependencies” and “Support”. Read it before you buy.
- Limits: the escrowed core cannot be read or edited. Only the files the creator lists under
escrow_ignoreinfxmanifeststay open (Cfx.re Asset Escrow). The script runs only on a server whose key belongs to the buying account, and Cfx.re lists Asset Escrow as “Not implemented yet” on GTA V Enhanced (Legacy vs Enhanced, read 19 October 2026)..lua
Our Advanced Police Job supports ESX, QBCore and Qbox and covers arrests, spike strips, speed cameras, a vehicle radar, live bodycams and as many stations as you configure. Its escrow_ignore list keeps config, the locales, the client/frameworks and server/frameworks folders, and client/ and server/ open. If officers get no keys for garage vehicles, you add your key script’s export to SpawnedGarageVehicle in those editable files, without touching the escrowed core.
Updates and support for our scripts:
- We release updates from time to time, as set out in our Terms of Service. New major versions are free for existing owners.
- Where a script’s latest version and update date are recorded, its product page and the changelog show them.
- Support runs through tickets on our Discord. We aim to respond within 24 hours to all tickets.
Plans
- Who it suits: a server that needs several paid scripts at once, such as a full police and EMS setup.
- What you get: Essential holds these job scripts: Advanced Ambulance Job, Advanced Police Job, All-in-one MDT V2, Dispatch System, Advanced Jail System V2, Realistic Evidence System V2 and Advanced Boss Menu V2. Ultimate “Includes ALL current scripts and ALL future releases”, with priority support: subscriber tickets are answered first.
- What it needs: the same Cfx.re account and server key as a single purchase, and the framework each script lists.
- Limits: scripts keep working until the end of the paid period, then stop. Cfx.re’s Asset Escrow docs say the same of every subscription asset. Cancel any time in your Tebex payment portal.
Compare the plans to see what each one includes.
Which fits your server
- The default job or inventory does what your players use, and you read Lua: the free framework resource and the ox resources. Paying for features nobody on your server uses gains you nothing.
- You run GTA V Enhanced: free open-source scripts, since Cfx.re has not implemented Asset Escrow there.
- One system needs more than the default: one paid script. Compare its feature list with the default resource’s README before you buy.
- Several systems at once: a plan.
- A “free” copy of a paid script from anyone but its creator: not an option, for the suspension and hidden-code reasons in the leaked-copies section.
For what an escrowed script still lets you edit, read FiveM escrow explained. For which systems a roleplay server adds first, read FiveM scripts for roleplay servers.
Before you install any script, free or paid, check four things on its release topic or repository: the last update date, the licence or the “Code is accessible” row, the requirements, and the support route.
